Nobuyuki Tsujii
Here's a link to an interview Nobu (the co-Gold winner of the Cliburn competition earlier this year) gave to Steinway. It reiterates the love and passion he feels for piano and his music, as anyone that heard him at the Cliburn competition knows.

For Nobu fans, a new album has released of him performing the Rachmaninoff 2nd Piano Concerto, Liebestraum, Mephisto Waltz, and Hungarian Rhapsody by Liszt on iTunes. It's called Piano Concerto No. 2 and PIano Pieces. Next month, is the release of his recording of the Tschaikowsky 1st Piano Concerto.
Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
Nobu will be performing at Carnegie Hall in November of this year. That was part of his prize for winning gold at the Van Cliburn competition.

Nobuyuki Tsujii concerts
I am a huge Nobu fan and am so glad to have found this forum.
Yes, Nobuyuki Tsujii is in the program of the Carnegie's 2011-12 season - he's on the Virtuosos II series, sharing billing with some big-name pianists. I think it's a great honor for Nobu and I bet he is thrilled about it!
I also found out that he will appear in Carmel, California in October.
The 2011-12 season is the last season that Nobuyuki Tsujii will tour for the Cliburn. After that, who knows if we will see him very much in the U.S.? I am attending as many of his concerts as possible.
Meanwhile, we are still in the 2010-11 season, and Nobu will be touring the U.S. in April. Mostly, he will be giving recitals, whose program include Mozart's Sonata in C Major, K. 330, Beethoven's Tempest Sonata, and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. He will also perform the Schumann Quintet with the Takacs Quartet in California.

Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
Mlliu, glad you found the forum and are here
I'm anxious to see what his program at Carnegie will be. I wasn't aware of his Carmel appearance, but was of the April appearances.
I very much enjoy his interpretation of the Mussorgsky. Any ideas what new repertoire he may be working on?

Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
I bet Nobu is busy learning Beethoven's "Tempest" sonata for his April recitals and I can't wait to hear it. I too am anxious to learn what he will be playing at the Carnegie. But he has a full plate. In June he will perform Beethoven's "Empire" Concerto in Tokyo - how I wish I could be there! But the concerts are for subscribers only, I believe.Beethoven wrote:Mlliu, glad you found the forum and are here

As for the Mussorgsky: I have never been a big fan of the composition, but I heard Nobu play it at a recital and I also have the CD, and I think he did a fantastic job learning it. The Japanese made a TV show out of how Nobu learn this piece, which was not easy because he has never seen a picture in his life. Based on the show, I wrote a piece about it on my site: https://sites.google.com/site/nobufans/nobu-conquers-picutres-at-an-exhibition I have heard from a Serbian that (s)he too love Nobu's interpretation -- this person was at his recital in December.
Nobu is a musical genius. I heard from a U.S. pianist who happens to be blind that it takes her 10 months just to learn one movement of a Haydn concerto - Nobu has said in interviews that it takes him about a month to learn a concerto.

Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
Yes I saw the vid of all the tapes lined up for him to learn right hand, then left hand. It's simply amazing!
Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
Good luck Nobu at the concert today! He's performing the Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 2 at the Bridgewater Hall.
Nobuyuki Tsujii's splendid performance of Rach 2 in Manchester, England
A few hours ago, Nobuyuki Tsujii gave a devastatingly beautiful performance of Rachmaninoff's Concerto No. 2 in Manchester, England. The sold-out crowd greeted him with a roar as Nobu was led on stage by Conductor Sado, then a loud and prolonged applause immediately after the last note. The performance will be aired on BBC3 the week of Feb. 26.

Thank you so much milieu for posting about the concert, especially just having attended it. Look forward to watching it
Re: Nobuyuki Tsujii
Thanks Mlliu for posting this wonderful video of Nobu . John Giordano was the head judge at the 2009 Cliburn Competition so is quite familiar with Nobu and his playing. I agree with what Maestro Giordano says in the video about Nobu's potential.

Here are links to Nobu performing Pictures At An Exhibition. Outstanding job Nobu and so glad you didn't give up in learning this despite the great difficulties you went through in learning it!
