Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756, and came from a family of musicians. He was educated by his father, Leopold Mozart, who was concertmaster in the court orchestra of Salzburg. By the age of 6, Mozart had become a gifted performer on the clavier, violin, and organ. At 14, he was commissioned to compose an opera. Mozart’s operas "The Marriage of Figaro" and "Don Giovanni" were successful in Prague, but failures in Vienna. He died young of typhoid fever, on December 5, 1791. His grave is unmarked.
